3. Pho Hang Trong

Pho Hang Trong @ kenh14

If Pho Hang Chieu sells at midnight in the morning, Pho Hang Trong sells at dusk, from 4 pm to 7 pm daily, suitable for those who want to eat a bit before lunch or a snack in the evening. Especially at 5:30 pm to 6 pm, this restaurant is always crowded, the guests have to wait to have a seat.

Pho Hang Trong only sells Pho with cooked beef. Since selling mainly for dinner, the bowl is quite small, with a small piece of white noodles with a few slices of cooked, soft, fragrant meat, a bit onion which is enough to warm your stomach without being too full.

In addition, the price of Hang Drum is also very cheap, from 25 to 30,000 VND / bowl. That is one reason that this restaurant is always busy. Both tourists and the locals are here to enjoy Pho every afternoon. In fact, in this restaurant, it is not difficult to catch the Westerners trying to use the chopsticks to enjoy the famous Vietnamese food.

Previously, Pho Hang Trong is sold right on the sidewalk of Hang Trong street that connects to Hang Gai, the seats are some ultra low plastic chair. When the Pho is out, the guests have to pay right away and then use several sheets of paper to cover the bottom of the bowl (to avoid the heat) and then eat. But recently, this shop has moved into a house in a nearby alley.

4. Wonton Noodle Hoa Ma

Wonton noodle Hoa Ma @ Blog Du Khach

Actually, it is not right to say that this shop is strange because the shops sell in the morning, which is suitable for those for want to start a day with a bowl of… noodle. But compared to other breakfast shops in Hanoi, this place is opened a bit early, from 6 am to 8 am, 8:30 am is the latest time but there will be only a few bowls left. So if you’re a late eater then this is not for you. Maybe because of selling too soon and out of stock too soon, many people who missed the chance complains that the shop has a strange open time, and does not willing to sell a bit late to please the guests.

The space in the shop is narrow, with only 2-3 tables sitting in the house, so the guests have to sit on the sidewalk, using chairs as tables are quite hard. But that does not seem to make the customers here flinch. Because of having many guests, the owner is always busy executing the staff to serve as fast as possible so they do not have to wait, but many customers still say he is “cold”.

Wonton noodle Hoa Ma is available at 40, 50, 60,000 VND / bowl. Compared with many other noodle shops, the average price from 30 to 40,000 VND / bowl, so the price here is slightly higher, not only that the bowl has slightly fewer noodles, no eggs, no fresh shrimp, no fried shrimp dumpling.

In return, the ingredients of the bowl are so delicious, from fresh noodles, good shrimp dumplings, and sweet broth. The noodles here are extremely fresh when they clearly see the smell of the soft wheat. The only link to that is because of the freshly made noodles are brought to cook right away. The noodles combine with the sweet broth, even if you do not have the meat or the shrimp dumplings, it is still delicious enough to finish the bowl.

Hope you enjoy your stay in Hanoi!
